Purpose of job

As a member of the in-country top team and reporting to the Country Manager, he/she will support CM and his team in planning, directing and executing the activities of the Drilling
Department, including reviewing, studying and approving drilling operational/engineering programmes, reports and supervising the planning and execution of the Company's drilling
operations


Key Roles and Accountability

- Supervise the Drilling Engineers, Supervisors, Consultants and cost controllers’
and report to the Country Manager.
- Supervise and coordinate the preparation of the drilling budget, control expenditure
and justify variances.
- Lead the drilling team and assume the responsibility for all aspects of the drilling
operations which include: Well design, OHS implementation and cost control
- Interact with local authorities and partners
- Ensure that drilling programs meet the business plan/objectives
- Develop technical/operational practices and procedures, while working
towards continuous improvement
- Lead by example through constructive and continuous team communications


Key Qualifications

- Bi-lingual French and English; in the case of equal skill sets for the job, Cameroonian candidates will be given preference.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and 10 years Drilling Operations/Engineering experience overall, with at least 5 year experience in a Senior Supervision position
- Strong focus on operational planning and contractor management
- Strong sense of urgency combined with a high degree of problem solving skills
- Demonstrable commitment to good corporate governance
- Experience in budget preparation and management
- A previous international exposure will be highly valued

- Highly IT literate, with demonstrable organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Well-developed leadership and coaching skills to create and maintain high performing teams
- Excellent organizational and planning skills to set and exceed established goals, schedules, and deadlines
