Exploration Manager

Purpose of job

As a member of the in-country top team reporting to the Exploration Manager, he/she is responsible for catering, lodging, maintenance and repairs on camp sites within established policies and procedures under the general direction of the EM.


Key Roles and Accountability

- Perform/supervise maintenance and repairs on camp facilities including plumbing, painting, carpentry, cleaning, and electrical duties.
- Supervise catering contractor/ staff to operate kitchen and dining facilities under prescribed hygiene conditions
- Plan and agree menus with catering contractor, seek employees opinion to adjust menus according to needs
- Prepare and agree food supply orders and storage with the catering contractor
- Make arrangements for safe disposal of garbage
- Inspect all facilities and assume responsibility for checking in and out camp grounds and non-camp groups and maintain movement records
- Assume responsibility for maintaining standard first aid supplies under the supervision of the Co Doctor
- Maintain required health/accident records in liaison with Co Doctor to ensure proper payment of accident claims resulting from camp participation
- Assume responsibility for weekly camp attendance summary, program evaluation and other required reports
- Assume responsibility for security of camp facilities and camp personnel
- Assume responsibility for inventory and ordering of recreational equipment and supplies


Key Qualifications
- University Degree or Graduation from a standard high school with a minimum of 5 years experience of camp management; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Mining or other remote location experience essential
- Bi-lingual French and English; in the case of equal skill sets for the job, Cameroonian candidates will be given preference.
- Considerable knowledge of mechanical, carpentry, building construction, and electrical skills
- Knowledge of menu planning and food services
- Ability to supervise the work of others, to establish and maintain effective working relationships with adults, youth, and the general public
Other skills
- Highly IT literate, with demonstrable organizational, interpersonal and communication skills 
- A strong and demonstrable background in managing a team and working in remote environments
