Purpose of job
Reporting to the Country Manager and in coordination with the central finance function, he/she will design, direct and monitor financial activities in order to deliver timely and transparent financial/accounting information to CM and the in-country team. He/she will be responsible for management , OHADA statutory accounting and provision of data to meet
UK GAAP statutory requirements
Key Roles and Accountability
- Develop the finance department capabilities in Cameroon to ensure timely
implementation of a robust control environment with a partnership approach to
the business
- Analyse and pro-actively manage expenditures against agreed budgets by
providing timely, meaningful and accurate information to the management team
- Pursue stringent cost monitoring, identify cost drivers, question value from
costs and seek to identify potential savings
- Ensure cash flow implications are fully taken into account in all major business
decisions and indicate appropriate actions to improve cash flow positions
- Participate and contribute as a top team member to the development and review of
overall Company policy, planning, strategy and the business development plan
- Identify and proactively manage business risks and ensure appropriate action is taken to
minimise or mitigate them
- Provide leadership to the finance function to create a climate that values teamwork and
the pursuit of excellence where staff work together to support the overall business
- Contribute to the recruitment, training, motivation & development of the Finance team in
order to build a succession plan that meets current & future needs of the organisation
- Take ownership of the financial planning and budgeting cycles and ensure they are
followed.
Key Qualifications
- Bi-lingual French and English; in the case of equal skill sets for the job, Cameroonian candidates will be given preference.
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent
- Finance professional, commercially driven, 10 years experience overall, with at least 5 years experience as Head of a Finance function
- Mining experience useful but not essential; Demonstrable commitment to good corporate governance
- Innovative, creative and able to develop and implement strategic plans that are aligned to business objectives
- Strong leadership and team working skills with the ability to manage conflict
- Strong influencing, negotiating and communicating skills at all levels of internal and external audience
Other skills
- Highly IT literate, with demonstrable organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
