Purpose of job

Reporting to the Exploration Manager, he/she will support the EM and his team in the supervision and the execution of all geological and some geotechnical activities necessary for
exploration, development and mining operation



Key Roles and Accountability

- Plan, supervise and execute early stage exploration activities in the field
- Assist in the planning and execution of the exploration drilling programme from
prospect drilling through to resource definition drilling
- Supervise digging and sampling of exploration pits and trenches. Do the logging of
samples obtained
- Assist with geological logging of drill core and assist and supervise with
geotechnical logging of drill holes
- Record magnetic susceptibilities and specific gravity of lithologies drilled
- Sample drill core drilling prior to dispatch to the prep and assay labs
- Assist with collation of environmental data and water sampling collection
- Assist with data capture and integration of assay results into the database
- Train trainee geologists/prospectors/team leaders
- Assist with monthly and annual budget preparation
- Planning & supervision of survey activities and integration of data into the database
- Interpretation of data obtained from the above activities
- Supervise the annual clearing of mine permit limits monuments
- Prepare across sections
- Assist in department management
- Assist/execute resource evaluation
- General and technical report writing
- The position also entails organisation of equipment and personnel



Key Criteria

- BSc Honours or MSc in geology
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of mineral exploration
- Proven practical team-management experience in exploration programmes
- Bi-lingual French and English; in the case of equal skill sets for the job, Cameroonian candidates will be given preference.
- Competent in observing and interpreting geological features
- Leadership skills with demonstrable organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- A conscientious attitude towards health and safety is a must
Other skills
- Experience with recognised exploration/mining software packages (Micromine, Surpac, Datamine or similar), IT literate
